This made me think about little JonBenet Ramsey, a six year old beauty queen that was murdered in 1996. I would have been 8 at the time, and remember this being plastered all over every newspaper and magazine, which I would force my mom to purchase so I could try to figure out what happened to her.
The heart-breaking story goes as follows: On Christmas Morning, JonBenet was found dead in the basement of her Colorado home. She had been struck on the head and strangled. There were a lot of weird circumstances surrounding the case: her parent's house was very large (and for someone to be able to break in, find JonBenet's room, and approach her without her screaming or anyone hearing was something the jury had a hard time dealing with), and her parents were the main suspects in the murder for a very long time. The ransom note also demanded a very small amount considering the family's wealth, and JonBenet was dead before anyone could even offer money.
The case was re-opened in 2010, and still has not been solved.
So sad. RIP JonBenet.
